Cigs lets you 'roll your own'
New breed of smoke shop supplies tobacco & tubes

A Worth tobacco shop is creating a buzz throughout the Friendly Village; but where’s there’s smoke, there’s not necessarily fire.
Cigs opened in September at 6602 W. 111th St. and some residents have questioned how the company can offer smokes at such low prices. A box of 200 smokes costs $29.97 including tax. Compare that to a carton of Marlboros, which at a drug store just down the street sells for $76.40.
Cigs owner Noel Valenti claims he is not in the business of manufacturing cigarettes – and, indeed, he does not have a cigarette manufacturer’s or distributor’s licenses. For that reason Cigs employees call the finished products “boxes of smokes,” not cartons of cigarettes. Valenti has a retail tobacco license which allows him to sell tobacco and accessories, he explained.
“We’re not manufacturers,” he said. “All we do is provide the customer with tobacco and the tubes. [Customers] actually load the tobacco into the machines, they are the ones that facilitate the machine to roll the product.”
